PRODUCTION COMPANY LOGOS

We plan to create our own production company logo so the first step is to research the genre then plan our own.

Research into production company logos includes a range of still images and stop-motion from our own students.

Examples include 

• Voyage Productions
• Blacklight Productions
• Teethmark Productions
• Metropolitan Films
• Blondie Productions
• Opening Sequence

In my group we used a fan as our prop. Our the company name was sakura studios. we used  a hue camera, which was connected to our Mac computer. We moved the position of the fan. Each time we moved the fan, we took a photo. when we played the photos back, it created a stop animation video. We brought the video into iMovie. We then added some non-diegetic music into the background of the stop animation video. the video was then put into the start of our opening sequence.

 PREP Write up an account of what you did in the lesson. Start your post by copying the information from the PREP post (about the research that you did). Then describe your filming. Add a photo if you wish.

Before filming we prepared the table, by laying out the props. we used the props to create a story. we then filmed it, staring at one end of the table and then ending the video on the other end. We zoomed in at certain points, to show important artefacts on the table. For example, we zoomed in when a piece of jewellery was being taken from the table. this was to show that someone was leaving and needed to take valuable things with them, to have money.

 PREP To prepare for tomorrow's practical work of filming an opening sequence, please watch the following two title sequences which are filmed in in a similar 'table top' style.

For each title sequence, write three sentences about how the conventions of film openings are used.

Delicatessen:

Credits for the directors, producers and others were blended into the theme of the setting. They were shown as: patches, labels, rulers, photos and newspapers. the genre of the film was displayed by the lighting. The yellow coloured light, displays an unsettling and uncomforting environment. Another thing that adds to the unsettling environment is the music. The music is loud, fast and sounds like a violin. The loud noise starts to pierce your ears, creating the unsettling space. The constant movement of the camera, discovering new areas of the room, intrigues the audience. It makes the audience want to know what the camera is going to show next.

To Kill A Mockingbird

the title To Kill A Mockingbird, is shown at the start of the video, being drawn by a child. The credits are shown in white text, over the video. The film is conveyed as a bright genre of film. this is displayed by the bright lighting and the close ups of shiny objects. the shiny objects show often can be represented as positive things, such as trophies. The music in the background is calming and light. It is played by the piano. the Close ups on these mysterious items entices the audience to watch more.

 CUFFS

•  Do you agree with the view that the programme offers a 'pro-police perspective'? What do you understand by that? What evidence is there of that so far?

The show is very pro police perspective. They show this by making the audience empathise for the police officers. For example, When having lunch, Jake opens up about being, felt up, spat on and bled on. These are very bad things and Jake is obviously uncomfortable whilst speaking about it. By making the audience empathise for officers, such as Jake, it makes people side with the police and view the programme in a 'pro-police perspective'.

Avengers: Sound  

PREP Watch the first 10 minutes (after the title sequence is over) of The Avengers on Clickview. Analyse how sound is used in the extract to create meaning. You can use any part of the opening scenes - both the opening scene at the seaside at Little Bazeley or the scene in Emma Peel's flat

Sound analysis:

The opening scene is set in by the sea side. There is non-diegetic music playing, lightly in the back. There is also diegetic sounds, such as seagulls and waves. These diegetic sounds make the viewer feel immersed. It also adds a sense of reality to the show.

when we are introduced to Emma Peel, the audience is greeted with light and upbeat music. This shows the audience that Emma is a good person and helps build a good relationship between Emma and the audience.
